What’s Mine Is Yours: Giveaways of a Sort

A couple of weeks ago, I announced that I’d have a book of patterns coming out this fall. This is very exciting news. Not just for me, but for all the people out there who keep asking me for a pattern to some of the wacky designs I create off the top of my distracted head. Here’s another bit of good news, pals:

I’m also going to offer many of my finished products for cost or free. Some of the yarn I use to create new patterns with has been given to me. For those afghans, throws, shawls, hats, etc…that I create with free yarn, I will give away the finished products for free. I will charge for shipping, but that will be cheap (unless you might want the shawl overnighted or whatever), and I will only charge for the price of the yarn (and I often go cheap, because I’m an adjunct professor and freelance writer, not someone with benefits and a retirement) and shipping. That’s it.

In this era of quarantine and fear, stress and political fighting, I think we all need a hug. Sometimes, a physical hug is impossible or unwanted, but a wraparound blanket on a chilly autumn morning is received with all the love one person can give to another. So, from my heart to yours, I’m giving away a lot of stuff this fall. More information to come. You will be able to order here (fingers crossed I can figure my store out–I keep trying), in my Facebook group, or through my Etsy store (which is getting a revamp, so don’t be disappointed by the lack of flash. That will change). The only thing I ask is that you leave a review, but only if you feel led to do so. No pressure. Reviews are just nice, but they aren’t a requirement, just a wish of mine.

There’s no catch. I just want to put something good out there in the world. I realize that people who make 100% of their living by selling things on Etsy and by creating of their own two hands might be deeply offended that I’m giving my stuff away. But, pals, listen–I’m not Calvin Klein. I’m just a middle aged writer with a gift for making knots with sticks and hooks. This will not create an earthquake, and it won’t be competition to anyone of tremendous value in the design world. I will push some fine yarns I’ve discovered though. Read the word “fine” in a drooly sort of voice. Really good stuff. Though I’m relatively cheap by force, I occasionally splurge. I’ll share those splurges with you.

Blessings to all. Have a great week, friends.
